The Great Allegheny Passage
- Wendy, I may not be eligible to vote for this walk as I am the POC but the GAP, Fayette county, Ohiopyle State Park trail Y1257 is a little known but spectacular walk along the Youghiogheny river in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands. A wild river, spectacular views from two bridges, and waterfalls are featured on the laurel lined trail. AND This walk is just up the road from the Frank Lloyd Wright Falling Waters Estate, a great place to visit and have lunch after a beautiful morning walking in Ohiopyle State Park. Truly a day to remember!

2009 Favorite walks
- 1. Reno, Nevada #0023, Truckee River Loved walking along the river through parks and onto the cute little island. Hard to believe this was in the middle of the city. 2. Silverton, OR #0171 Silver Falls State Park. All the waterfalls are beautiful and refreshing, especially on a warm day. We try to walk here every year. 3. Carlton, OR #1587 Wine Country. It is always fun to discover a charming small town by walking instead of driving through or past. We were impressed by the friendly people and the street community where all the residents had worked on building all the houses. One sees everything in a small town.

Oregon Walker
- I've just begain walking in May of 2009! The walking bug has took a big bite out of me. I love the exercise, the outdoors & meeting so many interesting people. It seems every walk on there is an added bonus. I've enjoyed wildlife, people from out of state & God's beautiful land scape. I do believe this is the best organization I have ever joined. I look forward to a new year full of adventure, suites and meeting new friends. My next journey will take me to Savannah Georgia in January 2010! I can hardly wait!

Top Walk
- Silver Creek Falls I think the natural trails and all of the waterfalls make this Oregon's premier walk. I think we should definitely have some type of national event that would include this wonderful walk.

Walking Bests in 2009
- ~Historic Astoria, Oregon YO475 We found that we normally take 2 hours to do a 10 k...but this walk had so much to see and to stop and read about that it took us over 3 hours to complete. The history and the views of the Columbia River from the waterfront trail were compellingly addictive. ~Madras, Oregon YO776 Always thought this was a ho-hum town because we just drove through it on our way somewhere else. But when we stopped to do this walk, our perspective did a 180 change. The views are indescriblable of all the snow capped peaks when we walked up the hill. But the best part was the cemetry and seeing the memorials of those who gave their lives reminding us again that freedom is not free.
