Teams reunite in the finish chute of the Portland to Coast and Hood to Coast Finish Line and walk in together. Running teams start at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood, Oregon, while walking teams and High School Challenge teams start in Portland, Oregon. All of them share the same finish line. The clock actually stops for the finish time as the final walker or runner leaves the prom onto the sand. This means the long stretch in the sand doesn't count against your finish time. It is fun to be a spectator at the finish line, hear the clever team names and see their costumes.
