This hike takes in four waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon. While Horsetail Falls can be viewed from the Historic Columbia River Highway (Highway 30), the others -- Triple Falls, Oneonta Falls and Horsetail Falls - require hiking boots and good aerobic conditioning. It is a 4.3 mile loop with an elevation gain of 740 feet. Hikers can start at either the Horsetail Falls Trailhead or the Oneonta Gorge Trailhead. For a longer hike, use the trailhead at Exit 35 of I-84 and follow the trail signs from Ainsworth Campground. Map of the Triple Falls Hike
The trail is very rocky in many places, so boots or trail shoes with a rock plate in the sole are recommended. Many hikers find trekking poles to be useful on the unstable surface.
