The Bottom Line
My husband is the go-to guy for getting the best outdoors gear. He chose the Marmot Oracle jacket as a lightweight waterproof jacket, suitable for wearing by itself or layering over a vest when the temperatures drop. I love the two-way zipper so I can loosen the fit around the hips for better walking. I prefer the men's version since I wear it over a Camelbak or fanny pack when walking.
Pros
- Breathable waterproof jacket
- Lightweight and packable
- Men's and women's versions
- Removable hood
Cons
- Expensive
Description
- Waterproof breathable fabric
- Zip-off hood
- Two-way zipper
Guide Review - Marmot Oracle Jacket
A waterproof, windproof rainjacket is one of my walking essentials. Marmot makes excellent jackets suitable for walking and hiking. I've been wearing a Marmot PreCip and it does the job. But it lacks one thing I really want in a rainjacket - a two-way zipper so I can loosen the fit around the hips for better walking motion. The Marmot Oracle has a two-way zipper and other comfort elements that make it the next step up in a lightweight, packable rainjacket.
