About the Program:

ClubPed is a simple, free online program from the American Diabetes Association to track your walking steps. Register online for free and you can immediately begin to log your walks. The registration page asks only for name, email, age, and location and what sorts of diabetes information you would find of interest. This is a fun online tracker for any walker, not just those with diabetes.

Setting Your Walking Goals and Rewards:

Once you have joined, you select your walking goals. You can select walking three times or more a week and your step goal each time, you can set a total weekly step goal, or a step goal by a certain date. Then select your reward - you can keep your Virtual Dog healthy by logging your step goal, or you can be rewarded with a new chapter of an Evolving Story.

Logging Your Walks:

You can easily add your walking steps for today or for past days, and instantly it draws a graph showing your steps and your progress towards your selected goal. You can easily edit any day.

Join a Walking Group:

You can join a public group or create a private group. Join the Walking.about.com group by selecting it from the list (the drop down list is alphabetical) and entering the password About. The group total steps are then displayed when you select Walking Groups from your tracker page.

ClubPed Message Board:

Join in discussions of walking on the ClubPed Message Board. You can also sign up for the free weekly diabetes email newsletters.

Small Steps Big Rewards Walking Kit:

You can buy the Small Steps Big Rewards Walking Kit online for $19.95. It includes a step-counting pedometer.

Bottom Line:

This is a very simple and easy to use online log. I like having a Virtual Dog - no shedding, although mine was nipping at a flea...
