The clubs of the American Volkssport Association host over 1000 self-guided trails in the USA. The walks go through a wide variety of areas, from National Parks to countryside to quaint towns to neighborhoods and cities. Each year the walkers vote for the Top Ten Walks, without being allowed to vote for any in their own state.

 The New York City (Manhattan) walk begins (as of 2004) at the New Balance Store, 51 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10024, Phone: 212-997-9112. The 10 kilometer (6 mile) trail takes you past the Lincoln Center, Times Square, Rockefeller Center and other New York landmarks. You can visit the UN Complex as well by walking the optional trail, an additional 2 kilometers. |
 The New York City Central Park walk also begins at the New Balance store and tours through Central Park and around the reservoir. |
 The Washington Monument is just one of the sights on the Washington DC Monuments Walk. Also featured are the Lincoln Memorial, Capitol, White House and Vietnam Memorial. The walk is flat and paved. |
 The San Antonio Riverwalk follows the river through and around historic San Antonio, including the Alamo, shops, hotels, and neighborhoods. |
