Fox River Socks

Fox River for Women™ is a new line of sports socks designed to fit the shape of a woman's foot. Fox River has also teamed up with the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO) to spread the word about breast cancer awareness.

Fox River Mills is helping in two ways. First, it is donating a percentage of profits from sales of its Fox River for Women™. Second, every package of the Fox River for Women socks will include information for women about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, as well as contact information for NABCO.

Fox River for Women™ sock styles include: fitness, running, light hiking, hiking, backpacking, travel, walking, court, golfing, snowboarding, skiing, and light skiing in various lengths. Retail prices range from about $8 to $17. A percentage of all profits go to NABCO to help increase breast health awareness.

A Woman's Foot
How does a woman's foot vary from a man's? First, women's feet are generally smaller. Second, women need a more rounded toe box. Third, women have narrower ankles. Women have four times the foot problems as men (usually due to their dress shoes creating those problems) and need a well-fit sock in addition to a well-fit shoe.

I can attest to that - after switching to shoes that didn't irritate my bunion, I still found myself in pain on some days. Why? My socks! I discovered that wearing too small of socks was forcing my toes together and irritating my bunion area. I have since switched to larger socks to eliminate that problem.

Fox River Walking Socks - in the Blister Battle
I road-tested a pair of Fox River 1579 Wick Dry® Quarter Walker. They fit well without irritating my bunion area. They are lightweight with slightly thicker section at the top of the foot (under the shoelaces) to prevent rubbing there. The wicking fabric helps prevent blisters by keeping the foot dry. Rib channels guide the moisture away from the toes and sides of the foot most prone to blistering. They have extra wear zones at the toe and ankle to extend the life of the sock. The rounder toe box eliminates the extra material that causes dog ears at the sides of the toes. The socks are knit with a flex-stretch design that hugs the heel to keep socks from slipping and to help prevent blisters.

You will find Fox River Socks at running and outdoor stores. Use their store locator to order online or find a store nearest you.
