| Your Personal Bests | |
What walking achievements are you most proud of?
Runners usually have their personal records (PR) or personal bests (PB) at the tip of their tongue. Their fastest mile, their best 10K race. Many walkers say, "I just walk."
But we do more than just walk. We set goals, we attain them. They may not be as flashy as getting the Olympic gold medal - but they can be just as satisfying - and we need to celebrate them.
What are some bests that you can note?
- Your longest distance. Whether you have finally made it up to walking a mile, finished a 5K charity walk, or done a marathon, note and celebrate your longest distance.
- Your best time over a set distance. How fast do you walk a mile? A 10K volkssport event? A marathon?
- Special Events. Completing the March of Dimes WalkAmerica, the Avon 3-Day Walk, the Crazy Horse Volksmarch or other major events.
- Best finish. How did you place at a timed event in your age/sex category or in the overall standings?
- Multiple event accomplishments. Did you walk in all counties of your state? The capitals of Europe?
- Team successes. How did your Portland-to-Coast Relay team do?
