To enjoy the walk, sign up in the log in the start box and take a map. I enjoyed this year-round walk on a trip to New York in June, 2000. It was my first visit to New York City.
The walking directions may change from year to year but still include the major highlights. The walk goes through Central Park on its excellent walking paths. Wheels are not permitted on the jogging path around the reservoir, so children will need to be toted in another fashion.
Walkers may only walk daylight hours, and it is suggested that you walk with a friend on this route, although Central Park is safe for millions of users a year. You may see some celebrities out walking, I spied Paul Newman and Joanna Woodard.
The route passes by Strawberry Fields and on past the Dakota Apartments where John and Yoko Lennon lived and John was murdered. It also goes past several fantastic museums and lists the homes of the rich and famous that border on the park.
The walk is rated easy and there are no difficult hills. Come and enjoy a walk in the park.
The walk start point is easily located via subway on the 1 and 9 train routes.
