About walking in London: Walking in London can be a delight. You can reach most any point in the city easily and inexpensively on the Underground. Walking options include enjoying IVV-sanctioned Permanent Trails, with maps provided online by local walking clubs. Or, you may enjoy a guided tour such as those provided by Original London Walks. The Original London Walks tours are 5 pounds per person, and as simple to join in as meeting the guide at a designated Underground station. We enjoyed one of their evening pub walks and learned much about the history of the area, in addition to sampling pub life. Other tours visit the scenic and historic areas of the city.
The White Tower, Tower of London
This is the Norman fortress built by William the Conqueror, over 900 years
ago. The rest of the Tower of London was built around it through the
centuries.

Legend has it that the monarchy will remain in power only as long as there are
ravens at the tower of London. Several are kept there, with clipped wings
to ensure the future of the monarchy.

entertaining tours by the Yeoman Warders.

It looks like a pleasant Tudor square, but these are the Queen's apartments
surrounding the place of execution (green area in foreground) where the Tudors
ensured that noble traitors lost their heads, including Queens Ann Boleyn,
Catherine Howard and the tragic Lady Jane Grey.
