Carnival of the Walkers #21

Saturday November 19, 2005
Incredible Workout: For the past couple of months I've been using nordic walking for my 1 mile short workouts. David Downer points out that mile equals 1800 abdominal crunches or 900 Press-Ups as each step is toning the abs and triceps. I can't say I look much more like our Bodybuilding Guide yet, but I am enjoying the nordic walking.
A Walking Themed Gym: Raul Pino wrote to me about his patented idea for an indoor walking workout facility. "The idea in a nut shell is a large indoor facility, with numerous pathways and different elevations of inclines and steps that could total several miles if laid out properly. And throughout the facility there would be different themes. Such as going through a ride in a theme park that takes one through many large room with forest, mountains, countries. But instead of riding, one is walking. And because it is a gym, it will have all the amenities that gyms have and maybe new ones." I wish we had one in my town, it looks like a great idea. Anybody ready to develop it?
Combination Cold and Heat Therapy: The Happy Feet blog has a rundown on therapy products for sprains, aches and pains. Cold and heat therapy can be alternated in some cases.
My Wayfaring: Create your own personalized free Google maps at My Wayfaring, including routes. It doesn't have all of the fitness features of our Google Map Pedometers but has good tagging and sharing features.
