Chicago Walkers to Stage Angry Rally: Sept. 28 the Pedestrian Critical Mass Rally at Chicago's Daley Plaza at 5 pm will protest the closing of the Queen's Landing crosswalk and a crackdown on jaywalkers.
Ranger Dan Starts 50 Mile Walk: Join in with Ranger Dan for his Footsteps in History 50 mile walk, Wednesday Sept. 28 through Oct. 4. He's walking from Worcester MA, to Providence, RI in his National Park Service uniform to promote the Footsteps in History Program in the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor.

A Man and His Dog Walk 500 Miles for Disaster Relief: David Cohen and his Labrador, Molly, will set off Sept. 26 to walk 500 miles for Hurricane Katrina relief as well as tsunami relief. The money collected will go to rebuild a chosen school as well to the general Foundations for Recovery fund, Hurricane Katrina New Orleans Recovery Fund. David and Molly set off from San Francisco Golden Gate Park, and welcome people to come walk with them along the route.
Hurricance Rita Impacts Walks and Web Site: The walking clubs of the AVA have their web server at the home office in Texas and are shutting it down for the weekend until Hurricane Rita has passed. The walking event planned for Dripping Springs, Texas has been canceled in anticipation of heavy rain making the trail unsafe, as well the self-guided trails in coastal areas being shut down until the storm has passed.
