Stay informed while walking to work
- I often walk to work and in order to make the walk more enjoyable I use iHear Network for Android. I listen to my news and social network updates. I oftentimes come across articles that I may have missed otherwise.

Good walking shoes
- I've been wearing several pairs of the old Birkenstock Footprint Carsons and Lawrences for at least 5 years. They're high arched with a big toebox. The main drawback: they aren't available anymore. The old EVA soles get replaced about every 6-8 months at $65 per. But sooner or later the leather uppers crack and they have to be thrown out.

Bus there, walk home
- "I take the bus to work 2-3 days a week and walk home - I used to walk to work, but it tends to get too warm in the summer and I didn't want to deal with changing my clothes/showering, etc. once I got to work. I bring my shoes with me and a small backpack. It is a great way to get in some exercise - my walk is 5 miles." About.com user Nita posted as comment to Walking.About.com blog.

Change of clothes and shoes
- "I live in Western Washington and walk to and from work. It takes me the same amount of time to walk to work as it would to drive, park, and walk-in (I work on a government base). Not only do I not have to pay for parking or worry about gas money, but I’m being active as well. It rains a lot where I live, so I’ve invested in waterproof pants and jacket. I then bring an extra pair of pants in my backpack and already have shoes to change into at work. I highly recommend!" About.com user Alice posted as comment to Walking.About.com blog
