Why I Wanted to Lose Weight

I was beyond being overweight and into "obese" class. I also wanted to feel fit as my weight was "weighing me down" and making my activities look awkward.

My Exercise and Diet Journey

Every time I tried to control my diet, I felt starved and weak. I decided that my diet was not balanced i.e. my body was craving more food because some essential nutrients were missing and I dismissed the negative theory that "some people live to eat." As most foods do not yet contain nutritional labels here, I decided to try heavy doses of multivitamins, multimineral supplements. It wasn't very noticeable but I did feel a little healthier with time and I felt as if my food had suddenly became more "energetic". Hence, lesser need to eat!

Lessons learned

  • Obesity is a nutritional problem that should be analyzed and addressed accordingly. We have to resist and get rid of negative attitudes towards "fat" people. They are not greedy or lack self-discipline!
  • One has to go slow if he wants to succeed. The longer it takes you to lose weight, the longer it will take to come back to you!
  • It helps a lot to have a precise bathroom scale. When you notice the first "small" loss of 200 grams, you feel great encouragement.
  • Water intake is essential tool to burn fat. Even light exercise helps you drink more water without problems.

Wendy Bumgardner, Walking Guide, says:

If taking the supplements helped motivate you to eat fewer calories, then they worked even if they actually had no real physiological effect. I am not a believer in supplementing beyond a simple multivitamin. But many of us need the motivation to stick with a reduced calorie diet for weight loss success.
