How I Trained for the Marathon

Very poorly, just went out and did it.

How I Did It

I am a 21 year old male who got into drugs pretty seriously. I decided I didn't want to be a part of that lifestyle any more so I started thinking of healthy things I could spend my time doing. Because I was broke spent all my money on crack I decided to start running. It was an activity that didn't cost me anything. I really enjoyed it and started doing hour long runs around my city. Sure enough I got hooked on the sport. I sold my flatscreen tv to get a pair of running shoes. Now I was really ready for it. I just decided to run. I measured out a course using google maps and went for it. it tooke me 4 1/2 hours to run 47 km but it was the best experience I've had so far. Running really enables me to clear out my mind and think straight. My one regret about the marathon is I didn't build my self up to doing it and ended up injuring my knees. So I've started swimming until my knees recover. I'm a very weak swimmer right now but its something I want to improve at. My first swim I managed to keep going for 25 mins before I was out of energy.

Lessons learned

  • Train work your way up to the marathon don't go out and do it, it was a good accomplishment but its kept me me from running for the past week i'm still recovering

Congratulations on doing something that was a good challenge for your body and mind. I wish you a great future!
