When it gets dark, some walking clubs take it into the night. With some great holiday decorations for Halloween, Christmas, and New Years celebrations, many organized events take advantage of the festivities to put on some fun events.

This is a chance to walk with a group for safety as well as to spice up your walking.

AVA Walks

Hershey Holiday Walkfest: This yearly tradition in the sweetest town in America, Hershey Pennsylvania is a Thanksgiving weekend tradition. The walk is non-competitive and you can take your time to enjoy Candylane with unbelievable lights and Chocolate World. Walkers can enjoy the two 10K (6.2 miles) trails by day or by night on Friday, Saturday, and (day only) Sunday. Cost: free with optional award patch $7.

Walk of Lights - Portland International Raceway: This yearly tradition in Portland, Oregon sets aside one night for walkers through the Winter Wonderland light displays at the raceway. The date is usually the Monday after Thanksgiving. There is a charge which goes for a local children's charity. You circle the racetrack and enjoy the light displays of the 12 Days of Christmas, winter sports and more.

Williamsburg Christmas : Enjoy the Christmas season in historic Williamsburg, Virginia with night and day walks of 10K and 11K. Held the yearly the first weekend after the first Sunday in December. Traditional decorations and a great colonial spirit, plus awesome nearby outlet malls for holiday shopping. Cost: free with optional award patch $6.
