Celebrate spring by putting on your walking shoes and heading out to a walking festival. These walking festivals are traditionally held in the USA and Canada in the spring.

1. Dupont Walking and Biking Extravaganza - WA

Held each year in March by the Over-The-Hill-Gang Club, this easy-going fun weekend features non-competitive walks of distances from 5 to 10 kilometers and biking events of 15 to 25 kilometers. IVV sanctioned. Go your own pace.

2. Victoria Volkssport Phoenix Festival

The volkssport clubs of South Vancouver Island invite walking enthusiasts to the Victoria Volkssport Phoenix Festival, held in gorgeous Victoria, British Columbia in April every-other year. The weekend features walks for everyone - from easy 5K walks through challenging half-marathon and marathon distances.

3. California CVA Convention

Come and enjoy! The walking clubs of California get together each year in May for a weekend of 5K/10K walks. It is open to everyone and I have had a great time there. Hundreds attend from throughout California and other states. Location varies each year.

4. Canadian Volkssport Convention

Each year the Canadian Volkssport Federation clubs come together for a weekend of walking, open to everyone. Enjoy a couple of walks with hundreds of walkers from throughout Canada and the USA and get to know their great hospitality. Location changes each year.

5. Crazy Horse Volksmarch

On the first full weekend of June each year, over 10,000 people trek up the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota, on the only day the Memorial is open to walkers. This 10K walk is breathtaking in more ways than one. While in the area, enjoy Mt. Rushmore, Devil's Tower, and other majestic sights.

6. AVA Convention

Every two years, the hundreds of AVA walking clubs from around the USA get together for a week of walking, workshops, and fun. The public is welcome to join in all of the walks. The workshops are excellent.
