Today's Walk
30-60 minute walk in the fat-burning zone at 60-70% of your maximum heart rate. Finish your walk at a moderate pace with 5 minutes of cool down at a very easy pace.

Walking Partners
Walking with a partner is a great motivator. Together, you are more likely to walk and less likely to let excuses get in the way. It can be a challenge to find somebody who wants to walk the same speed, time, and schedule.

Low Carbo Diets
Several popular diets are low in carbohydrates, higher in protein and fat. All diets of a reduced calorie level "work," according to the USDA, but not all are equal in getting all of the nutrients you need at that calorie level. Those low in carbohydrates are also very low in vitamins and fiber, because they cut out vegetables, fruits, and grains that provide those nutrients. The dieter needs to take supplements to get their basic nutrition, but in doing so they miss out on the micro-nutrients that are in those foods but not in the supplement pills. These diets (Atkins, Protein Power, etc.) often are easier for dieters to stick with because the higher protein and fat is more satisfying.

Mirror, Mirror
Look at yourself in the mirror before you walk today. Say, "I am an athlete, I am a winner."
