American Revolution Walks Program

About the Program:

Walk an AVA-sanctioned walk at 15 sites of significance to the American Revolution to earn a patch award. The walks may be regular weekend or year-round self-guided walking events if the route goes by a site of significance to the American Revolution. Such sites would include battlefields, encampments, fortifications and other areas where activities took place directly related to the Revolution during the years 1773-1782.American Revolution Walks Program

Dates and Locations:

The program runs April, 2004 through December 31, 2008. Qualifying self-guided year-round walks are available most any time. Qualifying weekend events are added as planned. The AVA has sanctioned routes and scheduled events throughout the USA. "Starting Point", the AVA's yearly guide to their 1400 self-guided trails. Weekend events are listed on the AVA web site by state, as well as year-round events.

Registration and Procedure:

The American Revolution Walks Record Book is available for $8. Buy the book and stamp it at each of the events with the AVA-IVV sanction stamp. Participation in this program requires participant registration prior to starting your walks (previously completed events do not count). Rewards:

Redeem the book when complete to receive a special patch. The patch is included in the price of the book.
