I got my books stamped at the finish, and purchased the beautifully designed "A" award, depicting the famous strawberry fruit that will be picked here in a few short weeks at the end of May. Part of the market was open to the general public, with one or two staffers selling a variety of farm related goodies. I saw more volksmarching friends coming in and out on the trail as I took over cooking bratwurst at my grill just outside the start point from Doreen, our club food sales chairperson and her daughter and friend who had been cooking the earlier part of the day. Luckily raindrops held off on Sunday until I was just getting into my car to go home. What timing! That is not the first time that has happened with one of my club events. Most everyone commented on the great fun, diversity, and interesting nature of the well-conceived trail we all walked this weekend. It was too bad that many missed it due to other activities going on. As Hal Wefald put it, "A perfect ending (having a wurst) to a nice hike." Thanks to event organizer John Kinsella and so many other fellow club members and other volksmarchers for helping out over the weekend for making this event so special and so good. I am sure we will return here again in the future to walk in the fields and forests of this picturesque orchard.
