Guide Review - Lands' End Sun.Life Convertible Pants
Convertible cargo pants are a great choice for trail walking or a day at the beach. While many designs are zip-off, these instead roll up and fasten with tabs and buttons. You can go from full length pants to crop pants to capri length. I found it easy to roll up and roll down the legs. A drawback might be that you have the exposed buttons. I didn't find them to be annoying, but if you have a different stride they might be irritating. I prefer the roll-up version of convertible pants as I always wondered what you did with the zipped-off legs of zip-off pants. I know I would manage to lose one leg.
The Lands' End Sun Life line includes UPF 30 sun protection to keep your skin protected during long days in the outdoors.
Light Weight Fabric
The poplin cotton-nylon blend is light weight. I gave it a try on a cold day and knew it should be saved for warmer spring and summer temperatures. I think these would be perfect for spring and fall. I bought a pair to use for trail hikes where I want full leg protection against foliage and mosquitoes, but also the choice of rolling them up when I'm out of the woods. The fabric isn't as beefy as the canvas pants I am used to wearing
hiking.
Regular Cut
The waistband sits slightly below the waist. But the back elastic waistband is so loose that it would make me worry about crack exposure. But if this is your style, you can wear them as hip huggers. The legs are straight, but both I and my friend Krista found them to be very narrow in the thigh, even though we had plenty of room in the waist and rear.
Pockets
As cargo pants, they have a full slate of pockets, with a leg pocket, front slash pockets and back buttoned pockets.
