The Bottom Line
Active Knit Sport Pants are a good design for fitness walking and nordic walking in cooler weather. They wick away sweat and dry quickly. Unfortunately, they soak up rain like a sponge - wear only on dry walks. They have a reflective stripe on the outside of each leg for safety. There is a small zip pocket and a small back pocket for an iPod or cell phone. They come in regular, petite and plus sizes.

Guide Review - Lands' End Performance Sport Pants

Lands' End promotes these pants as a great item for wearing when using fitness walking poles, also known as nordic walking.

Comfortable, Stretchy, Wicking Fabric

The active knit fabric is 88% polyester and 12% spandex. It is soft and stretches in all directions, giving you unrestricted movement. The fabric wicks away moisture. I first tested it on a rainy day, where sweat wasn't the issue. I got soaked when the rain turned into a downpour and dripped from my jacket onto my thighs. That was more moisture than the fabric could handle. Since then, I wore them for a gym workout and they handled mere sweat much better, wicking it away from the skin to evaporate and leave you dry. I also wore then on a crisp, cold, breezy day and they felt great. My legs and buns felt comfortable despite the 37F temperatures.

Active Cut

The straight legs are fairly wide. I worried that the bootcut legs might let in too much air on a cold day, but they didn't. The waistband is wide and flat and meant to be worn at the hip. I wished it had a bit more elastic or a drawstring to adjust the fit. I love the fact that these come in petite, regular and plus sizes.

Pockets

A hidden zippered pocket in back can hold essentials and, on the other hip, a flap-covered patch pocket can stash your cell phone or iPod.

Overall, I really liked these pants and they are near the top of my list for walking pants.
