Guide Review - Oregon Scientific Gaiam Calorie Coach Pedometer - PE980
The pedometer has a seven-day memory to help keep track of your steps, and automatically resets at midnight. But it also has a turn on/turn off function if you only want to track your dedicated walking workouts rather than total daily steps.
The PE980 can be worn in several ways. It comes with a detachable waistband clip for those who want to wear it on their waistband. I suggest adding a security leash as I had it pop off my waistband. You can also carry it in your pocket or wear it on a lanyard (provided) around your neck. It is very slim and lightweight. It is also completely silent.
The button functions are easy to use to scroll between the step count/time screen, calorie screen and distance screen. Although the buttons aren't covered, you need to press two buttons at a time in order to turn off the pedometer, so you aren't in danger of accidentally resetting it.
The pedometer uses a replaceable CR2032 battery.
Although the Oregon Scientific web site says the pedometer has a target goal feature, I couldn't find it referenced in the product instructions and I couldn't figure out how you might do that. Similarly, I couldn't find instructions for how to use the count-up timer and I couldn't figure out any way to do that.
