The Bottom Line
I am a big fan of fanny packs with angled water bottle holders. The angle makes it easier to grab the bottle while still moving fast, and replace it in the holder. The Nathan Elite 1 Plus has other great features, including a gel flask, zippered essentials storage, and a bungee. The waistbelt adjusts without any extra straps hanging down.
Pros
- Insulated and angled water bottle holder
- Waistbelt design eliminates extra straps.
Cons
Description
- Water carrier pack with a 22 oz. water bottle.
- Zippered pockets for essentials.

Guide Review - Nathan Elite 1 Plus Pack
With the Nathan Elite 1 Plus, you can carry your essentials and water with you on your walking workout.
Water Bottle
The widemouth 22 oz. water bottle is made of BPA-free squeezable plastic. It has a typical pop-up mouthpiece. The finger loop has an innovative Quick Clip design so you can clip it to a belt or backpack. The bottle slips easily and securely back into its insulated sleeve.
Gel Flask and Pocket
The gel flask will hold 5 ounces of gel or liquid and is carried in a mesh pouch. I don't normally use energy gel, so I use the mesh pouch for my cell phone, digital camera, iPod or other item I want to have quick access to.
Zippered Pocket
The zippered essentials pocket is barely big enough to hold my digital camera, but should accommodate ID, energy bar, lip balm and other small items. It doesn't have a cord port, but you could put your iPod in the zippered pocket and zip it most of the way closed.
Bungee Cord
I love having a bungee cord on my pack so I can attach my jacket or other items once I have warmed up. The bungee is adjustable, you can tighten it or loosen it.
Waistbelt
I love the waistbelt design as it eliminates those extra lengths of belt that always seem to annoy you throughout your walk. The ends of the straps are secured to the belt and slide up and down the belt as you adjust the length. No dangling straps! It's easily adjustable for waists from 26-42 inches. If you miss having something dangling in front of your waist, you can clip something into the handy loops provided at the end of the straps.
Bottom Line
This is well-designed waistpack for walks of 1-2 hours, and I would definitely consider it for half-marathons and marathons where water stops are provided.
