Guide Review - Camelbak Pixie Hydration Pack
For walks under two hours, or when you will have access to water to refill, this is a great hydration pack. For women like me, with a short torso, this pack won't ride down on your buns. The pack does not come with a waist strap or sternum strap, but you can add those if you desire as there are rings in the correct positions. I found that it rode just fine and comfortably without the extra straps, as even fully loaded it will weigh less than five pounds (3.2 pounds full of water without any cargo). The shoulder straps zip together so you can clip them both to the same bottom ring and wear it as a sling bag, or unzip them and wear it as a small backpack. The shoulder straps are comfortably lined with Velvetex, as is the back of the bag, for ventilation and comfort.
The 1 liter/35 oz. hydration bladder is a great size - you can carry 2 pounds of water, enough for a 2 hour walk. It is easy to refill at faucets and water fountain with its wide mouth.
The two zippered compartments give plenty of space for carrying essentials or stowing a jacket once you warm up. The outer compartment has an organizer pocket.
