VIP Very Important Ski Walking Fitness Poles are a special design of nordic walking poles. Used with the nordic walking technique, walkers burn 40% more calories per mile and tone their upper body and abs while relieving strain on the hips, knees, and ankles. Even better, while burning more calories you feel the same or less exertion.
SkiWalking One-Piece Design
The VIP is designed and tested in Glen Arbor/Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore for use with the skiwalking or nordic walking technique. They are custom manufactured in Lillehammer, Norway. The poles are in one piece, you buy them to match your height. The advantage of a one-piece pole is that it is lighter in weight than an adjustable pole, and won't collapse unexpectedly as can happen with adjustable poles if you don't properly lock or tighten them. SkiWalking.com will work with a customer to ensure they have the correct length of pole.
Patented Strap Design
A key feature of nordic walking poles is the strap or demi-glove. The nordic walking technique has a release on the back stroke, you release the pole completely from your grip and it comes back into your hand as you being the forward stroke. The glove ensures that this happens smoothly. The glove of of the VIP Ski Walking Fitness Poles is very well designed, I especially like the easy-to-use strap release to get into and out of the glove. However, the gloves themselves do not detach from the poles as they do with some other manufacturers. You can specify the glove size for a good fit.
Ski Walking Pole Tips
The poles come with two tips. For trail and off-road use, a durable carbide metal tip is built in. For asphalt, concrete pavement and flooring it is covered with a removable natural rubber fitness tip. You can use the fitness tip on road, track, or for mall walking. Unique to most rubber tip designs, the Ski Walking Poles tip is rounded rather than being paw-shaped. After several uses, I suspect I prefer the paw-shaped tips better as I think they have a little better grip and less slippage
Baskets
There are built in baskets to prevent the pole from sinking too deep into soft trail surfaces.
