Bike-style shorts help stop thigh chafing by preventing skin from rubbing on skin, but many of us feel overexposed wearing bike shorts out in public and instead wear them under other shorts, which inevitably ride up. Brooks 26.2 Walker Shorts solve both of these problems by combining an inner short made of wicking fabric with an outer, slightly looser supplex nylon short. The two layers come together at the inner leg and are stitched securely so they won't ride up.
Pockets
I like having pockets, which you don't get with most bike shorts. These have large side slash pockets, which are good for cargo, but your thumbs can get hooked if you have fast arm motion.
There is a center-rear zip pocket for securely carrying ID, money or a small iPod. The zipper is lined with a reflective stripe for night safety.
Uses of the 26.2 Walker Short
The 26.2 Walker Short would make a good trail short for hiking as well as for tour walking. I would hesitate to wear them racewalking, as the slash pockets are a hazard for hooking your thumbs when using vigorous arm motion.
These shorts are comfortable enough to wear all day, and since they have a 7.5-inch inseam, you can feel more confident wearing them in public than you might if you were wearing spandex bike shorts. Wear them from your walk to the store or to do other chores.
They are available in sizes Large, XL, 1X and 2X.
