Looking to its second year, AOM is focusing on several goals including growing its network of Affiliate states and adding new communities nationwide. It will also continue to build a strong national research network, comprised of the Affiliate's academic institutions, the Board of Directors, and other leaders across public and private organizations. Finally, the first annual national America On the Move Day will be held on November 5, 2004.

As part of AOM Day, the initiative will encourage Americans to log onto www.americaonthemove.org or call 800-807-0077 to make a pledge to "Go the Extra Mile for Energy Balance" on Nov. 5. By taking the pledge, individuals will make a commitment to walk an extra 2,000 steps and eat 100 fewer calories for one day as a way to experience how easy making small changes can be. Americans can sign up for their pledge anytime between Oct. 1 - Nov. 5. The success of the pledge drive will be announced and celebrated on November 5.

For more information about AOM and its Affiliates, please visit www.americaonthemove.org or call Wendy Artman at 920-494-1753 or Jenn Smartt at 617-242-1484.
