If you love the Nike+iPod Sport Kit but you want to use the sensor with shoes other than the special Nike Plus Ready shoes, then Bosco's Sensor Pouch is just what you need. This nifty velcro pouch attaches to any shoes with shoelaces to allow you to use your sensor with ease.

Using the Nike + iPod Sensor with Any Shoe

Previously, I showed how you can buy Velcro and sew a Velcro patch onto your shoes to attach the sensor, or even just use tape.
Attaching the Sensor to Any Shoe: Tape or Velcro

But Bosco's Sensor Pouch is a much nicer option. You don't have to do any sewing (EEK!), and it doesn't leave the Velcro patch on your shoe. Just slip the Nike+iPod sensor into the sensor pouch and attach it through your shoelaces. Now you can use your Nike+iPod Sport Kit system with any pair of shoes that have laces.

Many of us have a specific shoe that we must wear for a variety of reasons, and this allows us to use the system with the best shoes for our feet, regardless of whether they are Nike+ Ready.

Accuracy
It is best to recalibrate your sensor when you use it with the sensor pouch on each pair of shoes. For the best accuracy, you should recalibrate it whenever you remove the pouch from the shoe, as it is possible you are changing the angle or position of the sensor. This is easy to do if you have a known-distance course laid out where you normally walk or run.

The Tin

Bosco's Sensor Pouch comes in a nice tin, which is the perfect solution for my other problem: What to do with the sensor and receiver when I'm not using them? I am always worried about losing my Nike+iPod sensor or the receiver that plugs into the bottom of the iPod nano. Here's the solution: put them in the tin, ready for you for next time and easy to find.
