Sidewalk Garden - Portland Sunday Parkways

A growing trend in Portland is to use any available space for a small vegetable garden. This garden is in the green strip between the sidewalk and the street. While I admire the gardener for making full use of their space, I wouldn't want my vegetables to be constantly molested by dogs and other passersby. While front yard gardens are an oddity in some areas, proponents of "de-lawning," who would like everyone to replace their useless lawns with an edible landscape, would applaud this usage of space. All these vegetables are really tempting to the neighborhood fitness walkers; would we sneak a snack off our neighbor's sidewalk garden?
