America on the Move
National America On the Move (AOM) Day, Wednesday, September 28, 2005, asks you to take the pledge to "Go the Extra Mile for Energy Balance" by walking 2000 more steps and eating 100 fewer calories. Experts think those simple steps can stop weight gain and jump start weight loss, while reducing your health risk factors significantly.

Simple Steps to a Healthy Life

Make an online pledge at AmericaOnTheMove.org to walk an extra 2,000 steps and to eat 100 fewer calories for just one day to show how simple it is to make small lifestyle changes. Go to the AOM Day of Action Toolkit to print many goodies such as a Step Conversion Chart for many activities, 100 Way to Cut 100 Calories, 100 Ways to Add 2000 Steps, and tips for creating an environment for success.

Get Moving Locally

To celebrate National AOM Day, states, communities, worksites, faith-based groups, and other organizations affiliated with AOM have organized local events to encourage people to get "On the Move" toward a healthier lifestyle.
