Top 5 Charity Marathon Training Programs

Walk a marathon or multi-day walk for a purpose. These programs support you with personal coaches, group walk training sessions, motivational support, travel and lodging. In return, you collect donations, usually with a minimum of over $1500.

1. Leukemia Society Team in Training

The Leukemia Society was the first with the concept of enlisting and training people to run and walk marathons while collecting donations. They offer a great program with wonderful destination marathons and excellent coaching.

2. Arthritis Foundation Joints in Motion

Offers five destination marathons for walkers including Dublin.

3. Train to End Stroke

A newcomer in the the charity marathon training business. The program benefits the American Stroke Association, a division of the American Heart Association.

4. Avon Walk for Breast Cancer

Debuted in 2003 with marathon/half-marathon two-day walks in several US cities. Local offices train and support walkers. Walkers may complete a half marathon both days, or a marathon on the first day and a half-marathon on the second day, camping out at the Wellness Village in between.

5. Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day Walks

Debuted in 2003, continuing the 3-Day Breast Cancer Walk format. Walkers get training support and travel to one of several US cities to walk 20 miles a day for 3 days, camping out together each night.
