Sportline Steps Across America Event:

Twelve walkers will walk across the USA, beginning April 18 in New York City and ending 14 weeks later in Paramount, California. They will take turns walking in this 3100 mile cross-country relay walk. The walk is sponsored by Sportline pedometers, presented by TRACFONE prepaid wireless, and features health rallies at Wal-Mart stores along the way.
Sportline Steps Across America

Every Day Well-Being Expos Along the Way:

The Sportline Steps Across America Walkers will be making stops at Wal-Mart stores across the country and hosting "Every Day Well-Being" Expos with health and fitness information. The Steps Across America Presidents Challenge will be issued at every Sportline Steps Across America event to motivate and reward all Americans to walk for exercise.

World Champion figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi will hosted a rally at Chelsea Piers in New York City on April 18, 2006 to send off the National walkers.

The National Walkers:

The 12 National Walkers were chosen from over 300 applicants and represent a wide variety in age and location. They will keep online journals throughout the walk.

You can take the 6-week Steps Across America President's Challenge. Register free online. Register free online. Using a pedometer, walk 8,500 steps per day at least 5 times a week for 6 weeks. Receive a genuine Sportline Steps Across America President's Challenge Patch and a personalized Certificate signed by the President.

Steps Across America Finale:

The National Walkers will reach the Santa Monica Piers, California, on July 18, 2006. They will have taken nearly 7 million steps in 107 days.
