The Bottom Line

This light belt has a bright front light to light your path for hands-free night running, walking or hiking. It uses three AAA batteries which should last for at least 20 hours. You can adjust the angle of the lamp to get it to shine just where you need to have it. It can also be used as a flashing safety light.

Pros

  • 18 LED waist lamp
  • Adjustable angle and brightness

Cons

  • A little heavier than some lights

Description

  • Light belt with front spotlight adjustable for 4, 8, or 16-LED lights
  • Uses 3 AAA batteries
  • Has flashing mode to use as a safety light.

Guide Review - LightWalker Light Belt

If you need light when walking or running at night, this light belt is a good solution. Headlamps can be uncomfortable to wear, and many hats with built-in lights just aren't bright enough or don't have an adjustable angle. Carrying a flashlight works only if you don't use any arm motion in your walking.

Spotlight

The LightWalker has an 18-LED lamp on a waistband. The angle of the beam is adjustable, swiveling up and down. This solves the problem I have with most LED hats and some headlamps. With the LightWalker, I can put the beam where I need it to see the path ahead, not off at the horizon.

The lamp has four settings: 4 LED, 8 LED, 16 LED, and flashing. If you don't want to use it as a front light, you can use it as a rear flasher.

I've found that headlamps can be distracting as they spotlight fog, rain or bugs next to your face. I like a waist-height lamp for that reason. It helps preserve my night vision while lighting my path.

Carrying Capacity

The review sample I received included two snaps near the light, and the company will soon be selling a snap-on safety whistle and a utility pocket. These are great additions. But you can also slide on any other accessory that has belt loops.

Maintenance

The belt uses three AAA batteries. They charge should last for 20 hours of usage. The LED bulbs should last for 50,000 hours of use.

I was very pleased with the LightWalker and I see it as a good solution for those of us who have to walk or run before dawn or after dusk.
