Christmas Lights Welcome

What should be a season of peace and love we turn into a season of stress. I saw this weekend at our Volkwalk several gals who looked worn out by the shopping, wrapping, decorating, entertaining.

Simplify to De-Stress and Energize Your Holidays

Don't let the holidays burn you out. Let them energize you instead. Take time to walk and enjoy the holiday decorations. Bring along your family and friends. Take a new assessment -- do you really need all of the things and events you have become tied to with the holidays? Can you simplify so that the time you spend with your loved ones is spent in experiencing and sharing instead of worrying about tasks yet to be done?

The first Christmas was marked with a long walk by the Holy Family to register with the census in Bethlehem. Don't turn your holiday into an ordeal, but mark it with simple traditions and lots of love and smiles.

Take the Simple Holiday Route

I have taken a simpler road this year. A small tree instead of a big one. Focusing on my walking workouts and serving others rather than trying to cram in too many events. Spending four wonderful days with my husband enjoying a time together, alone, on vacation. If you have children, their best memories won't be of the toy that broke by New Year's but of time spent reading the Christmas Story in your lap, or strolling along looking at the Christmas Lights while singing carols.

Why not put on some holiday music (our Guitar Guide has MP3 songs for you to download), grab a cup of spiced cider and enjoy a virtual walk through the Christmas lights: Christmas Lights Walking Tour
