What Makes a Walk Count

My walking buddies have a set of rules for what makes a walk really a walk. We try to make sure we achieve one or more of these when we walk.

Do a Good Deed

Simple good deeds include picking up nails from the road, removing tripping branches from trails, and helping others who need directions.

Pet a Critter

The critter needs to have fewer than 6 legs to count, although we do include statues of critters. Dogs and cats are preferred. Slugs are just, ew!!!!!!

Play on a Playground

No matter how old you are, take time to swing, teeter totter, climb in the play structure, and be silly.

Find Money

Our favorite rule is finding coins on the ground. Sometimes this has resulted in fisticuffs between walking buddies over who saw it first.

Ground Score

Similar to finding money, if you find anything on the ground you value and want to keep, that is a ground score and it counts.

Shop at a Rummage Sale

The next best thing to finding free stuff on the ground is finding really inexpensive stuff at a yard sale along the way. Caution: only buy what you can carry, or have good directions to return!
