The Bottom Line

Keeping your toes warm on a winter walk can be a problem, especially if you are wearing your regular, breatheable shoes. The Grabber Toe Warmer is designed to fit into the toe of your shoe, above or below your foot as your choose. A natural chemical reaction provides six hours of gentle heat. If you wear it above your toes, it also will shield your toes from cold wind going through your shoes. I found them to be a great solution for continuing to use my lightweight shoes through the winter.

Guide Review - Grabber Mycoal Toe Warmers

Grabber Mycoal toe warmers are a great comfort item for winter walking. They come in a two-pack. Simply open the packet to air and a natural reaction begins between iron, charcoal, salt and water in the toe warmer, providing gentle but constant heat for 6 hours. The instructions say not to wear them next to the skin, but rather outside of your sock.

One side of the toe warmer has adhesive to attach to your sock or the inside of your shoe. The toe warmers are flat like insoles, and can fit in your shoe either above or below your toes. I tucked them into my shoe above my foot, with the adhesive facing to the shoe. I was very pleased that they stayed put throughout a 2 hour walk without winding around or bunching up, even though the adhesive didn't seem very sticky.

Once I wore them, I wondered why I didn't use them always in winter, or to bed for that matter! Cold toes are no fun. For speed and comfort, I would like to wear my usual training shoes all winter, at least on dry days. But they have an upper that allows in air, to keep the foot cooler and dry in summer, not so good in winter. But if you use the toe warmer, it shields some of the air flow while also providing a constant warmth.

You may have to wear thinner socks to fit the toe warmer into your shoe without crowding your toes, be sure to experiment with that if your shoes already have a tight fit in the toe box.
