Do you have a favorite piece of running or walking clothing that you wish had reflective patches for night safety? With See-Me-Run iron-on transfer patches, you can add reflective designs to your gear. I used See-Me-Run to add a reflective running girl logo to my Camelbak pack and to my favorite black walking jacket. All it takes is an iron and a couple of minutes to increase your night safety.

Be Reflective for Night Walking

For night safety when walking, running, or biking, you need reflective elements in front, in back, and on each side. Traffic can come from any direction, and by having 360-degree reflective elements, the drivers are more likely to see you.

While you can buy clothing with reflective elements built-in, I find myself wearing my favorite gear that doesn't have any reflective patches. You can use See-Me-Run iron-on transfers to put fun reflective designs on any cloth item. While a name-brand shirt with reflective stripes can easily cost $40, See-Me-Run transfers are only $10.

See-Me-Run has running man and running woman and a winged shoe design. They also have tribal art and a compass rose.

The transfers will adhere to a variety of materials including polyester, cotton, poly/cotton blend and nylon. They provide a small tester you can apply to an inconspicuous area of your garment to see if it will work.

Iron-On Transfers

Now comes the part where you actually have to get out the iron and the ironing board. I have diligently eliminated anything that needs ironing from my wardrobe, so that part was traumatic. But I'm a big girl and I can handle it. I almost had to ask my husband for instructions on the iron, since I needed to turn off the steam. He is the Ironman of the family, he irons his own shirts.

As an ironing dummy, this went well. It takes only 15 seconds to iron on the transfer, two minutes to let it cool, remove the backing, and you are good to go.

I chose a couple of items I wear at night that had no reflective elements -- a Camelbak pack, my favorite cool-weather walking hat, and a sports jacket. It was easy to iron on the transfers and I was pleased with how the items looked afterward.

I asked See-Me-Run about using the transfers on waterproof jackets. They said they should work on those. But the methods of making a jacket waterproof vary. So they recommend using the tester in an area that isn't vital see how it works. Luckily, my waterproof New Balance Storm Striker jacket already has reflective elements all around.

Custom Reflective Transfers for Your Team or Club

If you would like your own design or logo for your team or club and can order 25 or more, See-Me-Run is happy to produce it for you. They can assist with the artwork and can even apply it for you to high-performance wicking fabric shirts. This is a great idea for relay teams and walking and running clubs.
