Most walking moms find that it is difficult to get teens to join with them in walking. Teens pull their separate ways, and soon it is off to dating, college and/or career.

- Plan a Family Walk: Plan special walking days as family get-togethers. The picnic can be enhanced with a hike, a day at the beach with a long stroll.
- Go for a Challenge: Teens and young adults may want more vigorous and challenging activities. Instead of an easy walk, plan to climb the trail to the top of a local mountain, enter a large walk/run event and let them run while you walk, joining together for the victory party.

- Holiday Walking: For holidays, plan a walk to carol, wear off the turkey, and spend some great time talking with your teens or grown children as you walk.

- Set Your Walking Schedule: Use your extra time as your children leave home to really get into a regular walking workout schedule.
