The top walker for the second year was John Zuiker of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada with 110 kilometers, bettering his 105 kilometers from 1999. Photos
The weather was good for walking this year, in the 60's with brief showers followed by sun, whereas it was in the upper 70's in 1999. As a result, many walkers performed better than the previous year. The walk started at 6 am and ended at midnight on May 28, 2000.
Gold medals were presented to those completing 100 kilometers or more (62 miles) in the 18 hours. Three more walkers entered this elite category over 1999.
