Top Ten USA Walks - Lower Manhattan
|
The Lower Manhattan Year Round Walk has been voted in the Top Ten Walks by the clubs of the American Volkssport Association.
Voting history:
2001: #1
2002: #1
The terrorist attack of 9/11 shocked the nation and brought a new appreciation of the sights of Lower Manhattan to the walking public. A list of sights along the 10 kilometer (6 mile) route is a tourist's hotlist to what is worth seeing, visiting the New York Stock Exchange, the Esplanade with views of Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, South Street Seaport and the Fulton Fish Market and other landmarks in the Financial District.
The walk starts at the New Balance Store, 51 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10024, Phone: 212-997-9112. The store opens daily at 10:00 a.m and closes at 7:00 PM M-F and at 6:00 PM Sat and 5:00 PM Sun. You should return to the store before closing. Store closes for New Years, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This is also a start point for another two Top Ten Walks, the Central Park Walk and the Midtown Manhattan Walk.
