Corniglia perches above the railroad, with a hike up to the village or down to the beach. The trail south from Corniglia to Manarola is gravel and stone and about a 45 minute walk. I recommend walking shoes or boots - sandals were too flimsy because of the stones. There is plenty of exposure along cliffs for those afraid of heights, but lovely views and a good trail. Continuing north of Corniglia to Vernazza, it is a 2 hour hard hike.
