ROA-US FreedomWalk Festival

About the Event:
The annual ROA-US FreedomWalk Festival is a three-day, family-oriented, non-competitive sport-walking event where everyone wins. This walk includes a variety of distances from 5K through ultra-marathon. The walk starts in Arlington, Virginia and tours Washington DC. Each year it celebrates one of the essential freedoms and friendship with a foreign embassy. It is IML Walking Association and IVV sanctioned.

Dates and Locations:
The event is held in autumn. The dates are Oct. 16-18, 2009. The start/finish will be just across the Potomac in Virginia with trails crossing into the heart of Washington, DC, around the government buildings and monuments as well as through parks.
Registration:
The adult 3-day package is $24 until Sept. 15 and $27 thereafter. Lower pricing for one or two days and for youths. All walkers receive a medal.

Walking Events:
Welcome walk on Friday. Saturday routes include 7, 12, 21, or 44 kilometer (3, 7, 12, or 28 miles) walks, with the ultramarathon including Mount Vernon. Sunday walking routes include 6, 12, 20, and 32 kilometers and branch out to the National Mall and all three branches of federal government. The routes are untimed and non-competitive, every walker receives the medal award.

Sanctioned by the IVV and the IML Walking Association.
