About the Program:

This program ended Dec. 31, 2007 for new enlistment. The California Golden Heritage Walk Program rewards you for walking 12 events in California parks, forests, visitor centers and museums. You must walk four separate walks in each of northern, central, and southern California. The events may be weekend group walks or the self-guided "year-round" trails. The walking routes must be sanctioned by the American Volkssport Association.

Dates and Locations:

New enlistment ended Dec. 31, 2007. Walkers already enlisted may find qualifying events and routes are listed by the Placer Pacers and also included in the event details on the calendar of weekend walking events by the American Volkssport Association. Year-round self-guided trails designated for the program are listed in the yearly "Starting Point" guide.

Registration and Procedure:

Registration ended Dec. 31, 2007. Those who have books may continue to get them stamped at qualifying events and redeem them, while reward supplies last. The AVA event stamp and passport stamp at the site will be placed in the special event book.

Reward:

Upon completion of the 12 events the book is returned to the Placer Pacers, and the walker will receive a certificate and a 4 inch full colored patch in the shape of California with pictures depicting some of California's rich heritage (while supplies last). The book will also be returned.
