About the Program:

This program rewards adults and youth who participate together in 12 AVA-sanctioned walking events in a year. An adult 19 years old or older signs up with a young person as a team. By completing 12 AVA-sanctioned walks in a year, they earn the titles of AVA Master Volkssporter and AVA Volkssporter. AVA Youth Master Program

Dates and Locations:

The year time period may be the school year or the calendar year. The AVA has sanctioned year-round self-guided routes and scheduled events throughout the USA. "Starting Point", the AVA's yearly guide to their 1400 self-guided trails. Weekend events are listed on the AVA web site by state, as well as year-round events.

Registration:

Register by June 15 for the school year program September-August or by September 1 for the January-December program. Each team member pays $8 for the medal and certificate the first year, $5 for additional years. Registration Form. The team then receives a log book to log their AVA-sanctioned walks.

Procedure:

The team must walk together. At the finish, they stamp the logbook. Both team members must register for IVV credit at each event. The youth must be old enough to walk under their own power.

Reward:

Once 12 walks are completed in the year designated, the logbook is redeemed for medals and certificates.
