Colorado On the Move
Established in 2002 to encourage Colorado residents to move a bit more. At the online site, walkers logged their walking steps and got tips on how to add more walking to their day. The program proved successful and went national in 2004.

Wheeling Walks
Can TV get you to walk more? The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation sponsored a series of TV spots, radio ads, and newspaper ads in Wheeling, West Virginia to see what effect a media campaign for walking would have on a typical sedentary small town. It resulted in a 32% increase in the number of people walking 30 minutes or more, five days a week. The Wheeling Walks program is carrying that success forward with a web site listing walking tips, walking events, and registering people who pledge to walk for 30 minutes a day.
