Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 1 week
Here's How:
  1. Check the AVA.org website for walking clubs in your area.
  2. Check the Racewalk.com website for racewalkers or clubs in your area.
  3. Local malls usually have walking groups.
  4. Local medical centers and health maintenance organizations often have walking groups.
  5. Senior centers often have walking groups.
  6. Ask at local health clubs, gyms, and YMCA's for walking groups, or bulletin board to post "Partner Wanted" ads.
  7. Visit the athletic shoe stores and outdoor stores and look for flyers from clubs or for bulletin boards to post your walking partner needs.
  8. Check with local colleges for walking groups.
  9. Post your search for a club or walking partner online on our bulletin board or classifieds.
  10. Find local running clubs and see if they have walking members.
  11. Look for club flyers or workshop notices at large walk/run events or charity walks.
  12. Attend charity walks or walk/runs and talk to people to find out where there may be clubs or where to find walking partners.
Tips:
  1. If there is no AVA club close to you, call the ones nearest and talk with them, often they will know what is going on in your area and give you further tips.
  2. The best place to meet walkers is at a walking event. Find any walking event, strike up conversations and you may soon have some walking partners.
  3. Adopting a dog to have a built-in walking partner is a good strategy.
