Back from the holidays, back to the treadmill, right? Treadmills are tops for burning calories, but many people use them in ways that don't give them the best workout. Rather than training their bodies for fitness, they are reinforcing some of the bad habits they get into sitting in front of the computer all day. I’ll add an 11th one. Actually USE your treadmill. I got so bad that I actually had to set my cell phone alarm to remind myself to get off my chair and go use it. Here’s my treadmill motivation tip.
I’ve always wanted a treadmill, but, they take up a lot of space and I prefer working out in my home rather than in the gym. This advice is great but tips like: don’t step on the treadmill at a full speed, can be insulting to some people. This is a gag that has been used in most of the stupid comedy shows, and I think most of the people have learned the lesson. However, other than that great content.

Peter – I’d say it was silly to warn people as well, but I’ve met more than one person who didn’t get on the treadmill right (either starting from a standstill or getting on at full speed) and was injured. It was part of the counseling we gave people before using the gym at work — and I got several confessions out of people! I suppose they do learn their lesson, but prevention is preferable to the school of hard knocks. Especially if it becomes a workman’s compensation claim because it happened in the gym at a workplace!
True, some people won’t learn lesson unless they practice by themselves. It is compulsory that put the safety cautions on the control panel of treadmill in Australia, but there are still treadmill accidents reported on local newspapers. Never joke about treadmill warnings.
