Runkeeper and iMapMy for iPhone Now Free

Tuesday October 14, 2008
RunKeeperRunKeeper and iMapMy are competitors that turn your iPhone 3G into a GPS speedometer/distance tracker. Both are available now free downloads, as they want to build up their user bases. I have a Blackberry instead of an iPhone and I love my similar AllSportGPS program. It's not compatible with the iPhone, but iPhone users have a couple of similar choices -- probably with more on the way. RunKeeper tracks your speed and distance, and automatically uploads to the web where you can view your map. It doesn't yet have real time maps on the phone itself, which is a feature I really love with AllSportGPS. iMapMy allows you to see the map after the workout, and to send it to Twitter. iMapMy lists calories burned, which Runkeeper doesn't yet do. Both are adding and improving features constantly. Laura Moncur at Starling Fitness reviews the RunKeeper.
