Are You Able?

On September 11, 2001 a huge number of people found themselves stranded in Manhattan or Washington DC with no public transport back home. That was probably the least of our worries as Americans, but it is a real consequence of any man-made or natural disaster. I heard many tales that day of my co-workers from About.com who had to walk home for 8-15 miles. Could you walk home from work or school in an emergency? How would you prepare? How about your other family members?
